We’ve put together some simple steps and free online resources to help you decide.Technology moves fast, and advancements don't have time to wait for traditional four-year degrees. Taking the first steps towards changing your career (and life) can be intimidating, but we’ll be there to support you every step of the way. Do I want to become a certified Software Engineer or UX Designer? At Kenzie, you’ll become a Software Engineer or UX Designer, not a coding bootcamp grad. You’ll have gone through a much deeper learning process, worked on your soft skills, and graduated with a few projects in your back pocket to showcase to potential employers. As a Kenzie grad, you can tell hiring managers you went to a coding school. It’s also why we don’t consider ourselves a coding bootcamp. That’s why we recommend and teach 9-month courses. They want to know you’ve taken the time to really learn, not just memorize code. Often, hiring managers aren’t interested in 3-month coding bootcamp grads. Great question! The answer is totally dependent on which coding school or bootcamp you choose. Are coding schools or bootcamps worth it? We built our Software Engineering and UX Design programs to account for the time it takes to really master the art of coding. At Kenzie Academy, our program is 9 months long for this reason. You’ll likely pick up the basics within the first 6 months, then perfect your skills within a year. However, it’s usually easiest to learn in a structured environment with support from professionals and peers.
Everyone’s different, so some people pick it up faster than others. The amount of time it takes someone to learn to code varies on their personal learning style.
